” ‘Happy New Year & Best Wishes from Romantic Fiction Author Rusty Blackwood”
<><><><><>
The last day of 2017 and we find ourselves standing on the edge of a new year. I hope it is an exciting one for everyone, including me. I find the years passing quickly. I made reference to this in my December Newsletter just out, and I really can’t help but feel the time speeding quickly. Maybe it’s just me. After all we know time always has and will continue to move at the same pace, yet it seems like yesterday when we experienced New Year’s Eve and the beginning of a new year when the clock struck midnight.
New Year’s Eve is also a great time for reflection, to look back over the last twelve months, everything that has happened, the excitement of new challenges as well as those endearing to us, experiencing new and interesting things, and also of facing loss in many forms, the hardest being that of a loved one. I have been fortunate throughout 2017, and have not had to cope with further loss in that respect, but I have friends and acquaintances who have. Time is the great healer in those areas, and for those coping with new loss, be assured that time is your friend, and it will get you through. Take strength from those around you who care, and take solace in knowing we are never truly alone.
We never forget those who have gone before us, and I think it is hardest this time of year – it is for me – but I know they are always with me and it is through my belief in this that I find strength. As long as my memory continues to serve me I can and will recall the countless memories I have of wonderful times and Christmas’ past. Recalling them can be sad, but it can also be comforting. The more time passes the more comforting the memories seem to be, so for those feeling incredible loss and sorrow, I hope the memories you have will assist you in finding comfort and peace.
For those who follow my writing, have read my work, and continue to do so, this year has been a good one. Each year a writer hopes they will find their work reaching further, finding new eyes and interest, and I hope 2018 will bring that to me. I love to write, especially romantic fiction drama; I find not only pleasure though it, but a need to express myself and hopefully find new outlets in which to do so. Writing can help let off steam, release stress, and in return open new roads of interest. It is exciting to sit with a blank page, or a blank screen with ideas in one’s head of what can and hopefully become an exciting adventure that has never been experienced before. So we shall see.
On behalf of Rusty Blackwood Books, I would like to wish each and every one of you a most prosperous 2018. I hope it is filled with your greatest desires, and I hope if and when you experience them, they will be all you hope they will be.
Enjoy your New Year’s Day, enjoy your family and friends, and make time throughout the year for yourself to do whatever you choose. Experience the beauty that is free to enjoy by taking time to look about, taste the seasons, and enjoy the assorted flavors they offer.
My best to you all,
Author Rusty Blackwood, and Rusty Blackwood Books.

Rusty: I don’t read romantic fiction any more, but even so, I like you tremendously for many reasons. And I’m sorry to hear that you’ve lost someone recently. The best thing you can do in response to the sorrow is to remember the good times and be glad that person had been given the gift of life, and that you’d been given the gift of knowing them.
We all will die, unfortunately, but the best part of dying, and not being here any more, is that we won’t exist to know we’re gone.
Hi Roy,and Happy New Year. It’s so nice to hear from you, and I hope all is going well. You misunderstood my words concerning loss in my latest Journal/Blog post. I wasn’t referring to myself as losing someone this past year, but rather a few people I know whom lost someone close to them. My most recent loss was that of my mother three year ago on September 18/15, but there are many times when it feels like yesterday. But time truly is the healer of grief, though it never diminishes the feeling of loss. Your words carry wisdom, and I thank you for sharing them.
Sincerely,
Rusty.
