Author Rusty Blackwood’s June Newsletter 2018 …
Welcome to summer everyone!
Summer is officially underway and I hope each of you are allowed to enjoy it in any way you so desire. The immediate weather forecast is calling for dreadfully hot and humid weather for the next week or so with heat alerts for the elderly, babies, and anyone who suffers from respiratory issues, so be careful, and be safe. Also, do not forget the animals; supply them constant fresh water, shade, and if possible, indoors in a cool environment, and now on with my June Newsletter.

On June 3rd/18, I began the month by doing a signing for my 5-star award winning romantic fiction drama, Willow’s Walk, in the newly renovated Indigo in Ancaster, Ontario. The last time I was there it was still Chapters, and even though Chapters and Coles are well known names, they are all under the banner of Indigo. The manager at Indigo Ancaster informed that in time all Chapters and Coles with be listed as Indigo. Here is the official announcement for that event: https://www.facebook.com/events/414413069021094/, and a short pictorial coverage: https://www.facebook.com/pg/writerrusty/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10156667775632033.
For a limited time signed copies of Willow’s Walk are on the shelves in the ‘Local Authors’ display at the front of the store.
This 5-star novel is available in Paperback & Kindle editions at amazon.com and amazon.ca

I have recently posted on my official website www.rusty-blackwood.com a revisit to my 3-part audio/video series I did with publicist Don McCauley, entitled, An Evening with Rusty Blackwood, where I discuss the ten-year creation of my grand scale romantic fiction drama, Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary. It was a long and hard fought road to bring this riveting novel to fruition, from its initial planning, to the finished novel of which I am still so incredibly proud of. Take this secure link to the series: https://rusty-blackwood.com/revisiting-3-part-evening-rusty-blackwood/. This novel is available in Paperback & Kindle editions on Amazon at these following sites:
Amazon. com at: https://www.amazon.com/Passions-Paris-Revelations-Lost-Diary-ebook/dp/B00DXWF54I/ref=la_B0092XLBRM_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1530291364&sr=1-1, and amazon.ca at: https://www.amazon.ca/Passions-Paris-Revelations-Lost-Diary/dp/1482312697/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1530291485&sr=8-2&keywords=passion+in+paris. I am most pleased to have the entire Chapter 35: A Four Course Journey Through Hypocrisy, from my upcoming romantic fiction drama, The Perils of Autumn, featured on the interesting Literary Blog of author Catherine Lyon-Townsend, ‘Cat Lyon’s Reading & Writing Den.’ She has featured excepts from this upcoming novel in the past, but this is the first time she has honored me with a chapter in its entirety, so I hope readers enjoy this chance to get an insightful look at a novel that is not out until the late fall of 2018. Please take this secure link: https://anauthorandwriterinprogress.wordpress.com/2018/06/25/coming-this-fall-by-rusty-blackwood-sneak-peek-chapter-of-the-perils-of-autumn/ and do check out Cat’s amazing best seller: Addicted to Dimes, at https://www.amazon.com/Addicted-Dimes-Confessions-Liar-Cheat/dp/0984478485/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1530292241&sr=1-1&keywords=addicted+to+dimes, an amazing read by a most accomplished author.
I recently came across a news article reporting the unscrupulous stripping of the Wilder Award from children’s renown author Laura Ingalls Wilder. I found this dreadful, and I stated so in a post I wrote on my website’s Journal/Blog entitled ‘Canadian Indie Author Rusty Blackwood is Appalled,’ and I am. To think that such a fine and highly respected children’s author could be treated so ashamedly because she wrote the truth, and in a time when her words depicting life the way it existed was anything but racist. Honestly, what has our world become? As I state in my Blog post, history must be let prevail and taught in order to prevent its mistakes from being repeated. When a statue is torn down or defaced because people find it offensive does not erase the reason it was there in the first place. It is a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. We need to remember history even though certain issues may not be pretty. The same can be applied to written literature. It might possibly be because I am a writer and an author that I find the subject of what they did to Mrs. Wilder’s name and work so repulsive. Please take this link, which includes access to two separate articles, https://rusty-blackwood.com/canadian-indie-author-rusty-blackwood-appalled/. I would very much welcome input on this through comments, and or by sharing.

I would like to take this opportunity, as I often do, to thank each of you for your stellar support of my work, and me as its author. Do take the time to check out the ‘local authors’ shelves in your bookstores and support them on line by visiting their websites, as well as the many outlets that carry their work. Share their names with friends looking for new and interesting reads and do take the time to let the authors know how you like their work by writing a review, and or recommendation.
Stay cool, and I shall see you next month.
Rusty B.
