🚀 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
Return to Autumn written by the author Rusty Blackwood is a wonderfully written story. The story is set in the year 1978. Cyril Landon and Autumn have a young son Drew Landon. One day, Autumn met with an accident. Duff Taylor, the jockey, found her in an unconscious manner. Duff has always fantasized about this. He couldn’t stop thinking about satisfying his lustful wants.

Duff took advantage of the opportunity and got inside Autumn. He later dressed in Autumn and called Cyril Landon informing him about Autumn’s accident. Cyril was informed about the chances of possible rape when Autumn was examined. Even Cyril suspects Duff but will he confront him? Will Duff’s secret be revealed to everyone?

The story has an interesting beginning and it pulled me into the world of Landon stables immediately. I love the writing style of Rusty Blackwood. The author’s writing is flawless and makes it easy for the readers to read this book. The cover photo is well designed. Great work done by the author in this book.

𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘:
In Part 2, Duff Taylor remained secretive about his acts. William Brown and Manfred Montgomery are sure that Duff is related to Autumn’s accident. When they confronted Duff, he denied all the accusations that were put on him. Since the accident, Autumn kept on sleeping. When she is awake, she just stares at the ceiling of her room. Cyril Landon is assured that soon Autumn will return to him and their kids.

Suddenly, the thought of Duff Taylor came to Cyril’s mind. He confronted Duff and put accusations on him for taking advantage of Autumn. Duff asked Cyril to reconsider his accusations. However, Cyril’s instinct told him that there is something wrong. Will Autumn remember anything about the incident? Will Duff be caught and punished for his evil acts?

The plot of the story is so interesting that I couldn’t put this book down. I binge read it on the weekend. The characters are written well by the author. Even though I’m not good at stories with so many characters, Rusty has written them in such a way that these characters would stay on my mind for a long time. I definitely want to read more of Rusty’s work in the future.

Return to Autumn Part 2
By
Rusty Blackwood

Review:
Rusty Blackwood has come up with the second part of the Return to Autumn book. The book starts with the clever actions of the jockey Duff Taylor. Duff was a world renowned jockey, tops in his field. Now, at Landon Lawns, he has been reduced to a stable hand.

He is frustrated thinking about what Cyril Landon has reduced him to. While raping Autumn Landon, Duff thought why Cyril’s wife is paying for his acts. He stopped and removed Autumn from the table on which he raped her. Duff was waiting for this moment for a long time. He wanted to satisfy his lust with Autumn Landon. So far, Duff has been lucky. But will he remain lucky in the future or will he be caught for his acts?

The backdrop setting is impressive and the story is well detailed. Once you get your hands on this book, you will forget the real world around yourself. I really enjoyed this part of the Return to Autumn book series. One would like multiple characters from this book. Go ahead with this without thinking twice about it.

Return to Autumn: Part 2 of the 2-Part sequel to The Perils of Autumn by Rusty Blackwood resumes from where the prior novel left off. After Autumn falls unconscious, Cyril discovers a suspicious stain on Autumn’s jacket, resembling the one from her accident. This leads him to suspect she may have been assaulted in the tack room. Uncertain, Cyril questions stable foreman William Brown while Autumn is being examined. Despite worries about potential consequences and possible pregnancy, Cyril remains steadfast in supporting his wife. Meanwhile, William and Manfred speculate that more than a simple fall occurred, suspecting foul play. Tensions rise when Taylor insinuates impropriety on Manfred’s part, leading to suspicions of his involvement. In the midst of it all, Taylor begins plotting revenge against William. Who will come out on top, whether or not Landon Lawns Stables, Autumn, Cyril, and all who stand to lose everything, comes to a head in this grand series finale.

Return to Autumn by Rusty Blackwood really drives home the vulnerability of Autumn, who has been at Landon Lawns Stables as Cyril’s much, much younger wife for long enough to bear him an heir, and the resilience of her marriage to Cyril who comes from the pedigree of old school British landed gentry. Blackwood writes in the classic style of 1970s fiction where the assault of Autumn physically and emotionally is a vehicle to advance the plot of vengeance, and at a time where this could spell ruin publicly and professionally when paired with the after effect as well as the ramifications of disruption to the training and care of the horses that are the most important aspect of Landon Lawns Stables. I like Autumn because she is capable and intelligent, and you really do want to root for her and Cyril and their growing family. The sabotage that threatens everything and those involved keeps the pace threading through the story’s patchwork of subplots. Return to Autumn is a satisfying conclusion to Blackwood’s build-up in the series.

Review by That Twisted Page, May 28, 2025
  • Some stories don’t fade with the season—they deepen, darken, and bloom again in the soil of memory.

    Rating: (4.5/5) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Rusty Blackwood’s Return to Autumn: Part 2 is a reckoning—a culmination—of the secrets, desires, betrayals, and loyalties that have simmered in Landon Manor’s privileged, though volatile, world. It is 1978’s frosty quiet of January, and the sequel takes up where its first book left off and weaves them into a tapestry of suspenseful revelations and emotional accountings.

Autumn and Cyril have to contend with the challenges of parenthood with Drew Landon, their newborn son—an heir of legacy and love. However, the peaceful bliss of domestic life is soon eclipsed by the machinations of jockey Duff Taylor, whose decades-long deceptions and morally reprehensible acts begin to come apart with catastrophic fury. As secrets are revealed and reputations hang by a thread, the tale plunges deep into the themes of revenge, justice, and the price of keeping silent.

Blackwood’s prose remains vivid and cinematic, building a Kentucky terrain both beautiful and unsettling. Her characters are seasoned, their emotional journeys complex and engaging. And while the story goes perilously close to terrifying heights—particularly around Duff’s unsettling motives—Blackwood treats these scenes with narrative weight, ensuring they are presented as part of the story’s tally.

    Why This Modern Drama Shines:
    • Complex Characters: Particularly Autumn and Cyril, whose strength and integrity keep the family stable during revelations of chaos.
    • Rich, Immersive Setting: The characterization of The Meadows and Landon Lawns Stables grounds readers in an atmosphere of vintage charm infused with underlying decay.
    • Plot Built on Suspense: Long-forgotten secrets surface, with life-changing ramifications that maintain the suspense tightly wound.
    • Legacy & Redemption Themes: Examines how the decision of one generation influences the next—and the cost of unspoken truth.
    • Emotional Payoff: A satisfying conclusion of the overall story respecting its characters’ arc

Final Thoughts:

Return to Autumn: Part 2 is less a sequel than a reckoning with the past. A melodrama of emotional depth, a conclusion to a love/betrayal saga born of storms and grit and the hard work it takes to rebuild them. With her lyrical writing and unflinching honesty, Rusty Blackwood gives us closure, but only after she asks the question first: What do we do with the pain we inherit?

This is a must-read for lovers of generational drama, true romance, and stories where justice takes a walk with grace—and now and then, with fire.

 guilin_bookreviewer  5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I recently read Return to Autumn: Part 2 by Rusty Blackwood, and I honestly enjoyed it a lot. This book continues the story of Autumn and Cyril, who live in a big, beautiful place called Landon Manor. But behind those big walls, there’s a lot of tension, secrets, and problems. It shows how sometimes, even when life looks perfect on the outside, it can be very different on the inside.

What made the story interesting for me was the birth of their son, Drew. It brought a happy moment to their lives, but the problems didn’t stop there. A character named Duff Taylor causes a lot of trouble with his lies and bad decisions. While reading, I kept wondering what would happen next and if he would finally get what he deserved. The ending of the book felt complete and left me with a good feeling.

I really liked Rusty Blackwood’s way of writing. It’s simple, clear, and makes you feel like you’re part of the story. The way she described the places and the emotions of the characters made everything easy to imagine. The story teaches you how people deal with their past and the choices they have to make to protect the people they love.

If you enjoy stories about family, secrets, and drama, this is a great book to read. I would suggest starting with The Perils of Autumn to understand the full story before jumping into this one. It’s an emotional, interesting, and easy-to-read story that keeps you hooked till the last page.

BOOK REVIEW: RETURN TO AUTUMN Part 2

AUTHOR: RUSTY BLACKWOOD

MY RATINGS: 5/5

I just finished reading Return to Autumn: Part 2 and I have to say, it was the perfect conclusion to this dramatic series. The story takes us back to The Meadows, the posh Kentucky community we’ve come to know through The Perils of Autumn and Return to Autumn: Part 1. This final installment ties everything together with even more tension, family drama, and long-awaited truths coming to light.

The book picks up in January 1978, and once again we’re at Landon Manor. Autumn and Cyril have started a new chapter of their lives with their son, Drew, who is already marked as the future master of Landon Lawns Stables. But of course, not everything is peaceful. Jockey Duff Taylor continues down his path of secrets and deception, creating ripple effects that threaten not just reputations but the very future of the stables. The suspense around whether he’ll finally face justice or continue his destructive path kept me turning the pages quickly.

One of the things that struck me right away was the book cover. The image of a woman tenderly embracing a horse sets the tone beautifully. It reflects the heart of this story—love, loyalty, and the powerful bond between people and horses—while also hinting at the drama and passion running through the pages.

Rusty Blackwood’s writing style is vivid and heartfelt. She blends drama, romance, and suspense in a way that feels natural and immersive. Her descriptions of the Kentucky setting, the horses, and the manor life made me feel like I was right there at Landon Lawns, watching everything unfold. What I enjoyed most was how she keeps the tension alive—there are moments where you feel completely settled, only to be pulled back into unexpected twists.

This book felt like the perfect wrap-up. It carried all the emotion of saying goodbye to characters I’d grown attached to, while also delivering the kind of resolution that leaves you satisfied. I could also see why reviewers say it would make a great TV series or movie—the drama, the settings, and the conflicts are cinematic.

Rusty Blackwood brings readers back to the world of The Meadows in the final part of this dramatic and emotional series. If you’ve followed the journey from The Perils of Autumn through Return to Autumn: Part 1, then this conclusion feels like the last ride you don’t want to miss.

The story opens in January 1978 at Landon Manor, where life continues with all its challenges and secrets. Autumn and Cyril are now proud parents to their son, Drew, who is destined to inherit Landon Lawns Stables. On the surface, things seem steady, but underneath, tension is brewing. Jockey Duff Taylor has not let go of his deceptive ways, and the truth about his actions begins to unravel through the sharp eyes of William Brown and Manfred Montgomery. What follows is a storm of revenge, shocking revelations, and the kind of drama that tests every bond.

One of the strengths of Blackwood’s writing is how real her characters feel. Autumn’s quiet strength, Cyril’s resilience, and even Duff’s conniving nature pull you in. The author paints the setting beautifully—you can almost picture the Kentucky stables, the elegance of Landon Manor, and the emotions of a family caught between love, loyalty, and betrayal.

This book doesn’t just tie up loose ends—it delivers closure with intensity and heart. The suspense builds until the very end, keeping you turning the pages to see if justice will finally catch up with Duff, or if his lies will cause permanent damage.

If you enjoy stories with a blend of romance, family drama, and suspense set against a rich, horse-racing backdrop, Return to Autumn: Part 2 is a perfect choice. It’s not only a satisfying conclusion to the series but also a reminder of how truth, courage, and love can stand strong against deception.

Hi Rusty Blackwood,

I’ve just finished reading Return to Autumn: Part 2, and what stood out most was how confidently you bring this long, dramatic journey to a close. The return to The Meadows and Landon Manor feels purposeful, carrying the weight of everything that has unfolded across the series rather than simply revisiting familiar ground.

I especially appreciated the tension surrounding Duff Taylor and the slow unravelling of his secrets. The layered revelations, paired with the looming threat to Autumn and Landon Lawns Stables, keep the stakes personal and high. The sense of reckoning builds steadily, making the final chapters feel earned rather than rushed.

The 1978 setting works beautifully, grounding the drama in a specific moment while allowing themes of loyalty, deception, legacy, and revenge to take centre stage. For readers who have followed Autumn’s story from the beginning, this conclusion delivers both suspense and emotional closure.

This book feels particularly well suited to readers who enjoy character driven drama, long form storytelling, and series that reward commitment. It has the pacing and visual richness that invites discussion and rereading.

Return to Autumn: Part 2

By: Rusty Blackwood

Ratings:9.5/10

“Return to Autumn : Part 2” is a compelling and emotionally charged conclusion to a series that has steadily built its reputation on depth, intrigue, and richly layered drama. Set in January 1978, the novel immerses the reader once again in the refined yet quietly volatile world of The Meadows and Landon Manor, where polished surfaces mask festering secrets. Rusty Blackwood skillfully captures an era, not just in setting, but in atmosphere—one where reputation is everything, and scandal has the power to destroy lives overnight.

At the heart of the story lies the contrast between new beginnings and long-brewing consequences. The birth of Autumn and Cyril’s son, Drew Landon, offers a sense of legacy and hope for the future of Landon Lawns Stables, yet that promise is constantly overshadowed by unresolved betrayals. The author excels at showing how joy and anxiety can exist side by side, making the emotional landscape feel authentic and grounded rather than idealized.

The tension escalates through the unraveling of Duff Taylor’s deceptions, which have been quietly accumulating throughout the series. His character is written with unsettling realism—charming on the surface, corrosive underneath—and the threat he poses feels genuinely dangerous. The involvement of William Brown and Manfred Montgomery adds further strength to the narrative, as their determination to uncover the truth creates a slow, deliberate march toward reckoning. The suspense is not driven by sudden twists alone, but by the mounting inevitability of exposure, which keeps readers invested and uneasy.

Blackwood’s prose remains confident and polished, balancing descriptive elegance with narrative momentum. The stakes are not limited to personal vendettas; they extend to public disgrace, professional ruin, and the fragile bonds holding families and institutions together. By the final chapters, the story delivers a resolution that feels earned through careful buildup, providing emotional closure while remaining true to the series’ dramatic core.

Overall, Return to Autumn: Part 2 stands as a strong, rewarding finale that honors the journey of its characters and the loyalty of its readers. It brings together romance, suspense, and social drama in a way that feels cinematic, making it easy to imagine this series adapted for the screen. For fans of layered storytelling and high-stakes emotional drama, this final ride through The Meadows is well worth taking.
