I’m sitting here tonight thinking of days long past and a group of very special people. Many years before I began writing professionally under the pseudonym of Rusty Blackwood, I was bass guitarist, and shared lead vocals for the south-western touring country/ rock band, MIRAGE. This group consisted of four good friends, Bruce MacDonald, lead & rhythm guitarist and vocalist, Dana MacDonald, lead vocalist and keyboards, Doug Weir, drums, and me, Carol Weir, lead vocalist and bass guitar.
We toured the south-western portion of Ontario from 1980 to 1985. We were a great cover band with an impressive catalogue ranging from classic country, country rock, rock, blues, and middle of the road. Music has always been part of my life, beginning when I was thirteen with my family’s country music band, The Midnight Ramblers. When you grow up among music and talented people, it is something you never forget, nor do you ever truly get it out of your blood.
The totally safe audio I have included above was recorded live on November 23, 1983 at Heg’s Hub in Ridgetown, Ontario. Bruce MacDonald introduces me and our version of Sylvia’s major hit, “Nobody”.
I hope you enjoy it.

really wish I could have had the chance to hear and see this band preform…it would have been a treat.

Thank you so much, Linkk. It was a wonderful time in our lives; we shared a lot of fun and very special times that each of us will always remember fondly. Recorded music and pictures are wonderful things 🙂 and thanks again for your comment 🙂
