Thoroughly disgusted! With regard to today’s Nov. 22nd. book-signing for ‘Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary” at Fairview Mall CHAPTERS in St. Catharines, I had the following content to say which at one point was posted on Chapters’ Facebook but has since been taken off, but be assured every word that I said can be read on my Blog here, and I stand by them now, and will continue to do so, for it is only through awareness and speaking one’s mind that change for the better can come about, not only for me and my work, but for all local Indie authors of whom face this kind of treatment. Comments are welcome, so have your say as well.
‘And where, might I ask, is any notice that St. Catharine’s romance novelist Rusty Blackwood would be signing her latest ‘4 star’ romance novel on Nov. 22nd? It is totally shabby the way you treat your local authors — not only demanding they sell a certain amount of books in order to gain placement of a ‘few’ on the store’s shelf, and aside from the appearance notifications done by the author — which btw only 1 of 2 copies were hung after being delivered to store and this, I might add is done at the expense of the author just like everything else is, yet you cannot even mention the signing via your site here. If you were to treat well-known authors this way you would totally lose sales left and right, but they ‘too’ were once unknown and trying their best to get their work out there. Today, Nov. 22nd, was yet again another repeat performance of unprofessional conduct and ill-respect ( with the exception of Stacey ) by the management toward the author, and it will be Miss Blackwood’s final signing in this store and, I would also wish to add that among the artist’s circle, ill-treatment of an author like this by any book-store or venue, travels much faster than good. I suggest you keep this in mind for the next local author that darkens your door.’
