Romantic Fiction Author Rusty Blackwood’s March Newsletter 2017 …

Hi everyone! According to the latest weather reports, it looks like March is going to go out like a lion – at least in the GTO and Niagara regions. This time of year anything can happen with weather. I can remember walking to school at my dear old #21 Southwold in temps so warm you didn’t require a coat, but was glad that you had it on the way home because there would be snow on the ground with temps so frigid you had to keep walking or freeze if you stopped. The next day it could be entirely reversed. The day when they can truly forecast the weather accurately and have it materialize, will be a very good one, and now on with the news of March.

This month has been an extremely busy one for me and my 5 star award winning romantic fiction drama, Willow’s Walk. The action took place online at the highly patronized news site, Indie Author News, www.indieauthornews.com, beginning on March 14th as Willow secured “Book Feature.” One week later, March 21st, Indie Author News posted their in-depth and insightful Interview with me. To add to the luster of the event, the interview was accompanied over at amazon.com by a free Kindle download of Willow’s Walk throughout the day. Lastly, on March 28th, Willow’s Walk held “Book of the Day” for two consecutive days running. The ongoing coverage they have provided has been phenomenal; I couldn’t have asked for any better, and I hope you will all take time to check out the write-up accompanying the Book Feature, and the Interview of which are still available, just scroll down the main page.

I usually try to do an Official Press Release each month if at all possible, and you may read this month’s by taking this shortened link: http://bit.ly/2mDsIt9

Press Releases are a necessary tool, especially for Indie authors like myself, and the notoriety they bring are extremely helpful when it comes to bringing a title before the public’s eye. I am always open for comments, opinions, or questions.

For readers who have read my comedy short, The Misadventures of Derwood Tugbottom, and have asked if I would be doing a sequel, I am pleased to announce that I have started just that, entitled Derwood Returns. Please enjoy the Prologue:

It is true that retirement comes to everyone, and for the adamantly out-spoken, stubborn, and rapidly aging Derwood Justice Tugbottom, there had been no exception to that rule. How he wished his life could be repeated, a second chance for redemption, another go at trying to get it right. He thought about this on a regular base, always coming up with the same answer, the same wanting to celebrate the fruition of what he had hoped to achieve, as life carried him toward its undeniable end.

Two years earlier, Derwood had moved to the posh Anchors Away Retirement Center, located in the sought after hamlet of Vine Haven on the Lake in southern Ontario, Canada. In his selective way of looking at things, he had not really left home, for Canada still remained a colony of Britain, with very much the same laws and opportunities, yet things had not worked out as previously planned. Through no self inflicted fault of his own – according to him – he had been belittled by the misunderstanding residents, ostracized beyond reason, and totally driven out. If he did know the reason, he would not admit it, and he still continued to believe his innocence. But Karma is real, and when you purposely cause heartache and hurt, it comes after you in full force. Derwood may not admit it, but he had made a terrible mistake when he chose to leave with what he had considered the jewel of his eye, the rather rotund and promiscuous Fannie-May Anyman. But life was about to change for the retired, love-struck civil servant, for Fannie-May had continued to live up to the descriptive behavior contained within her surname.

Now the miffed and heart-broken Derwood finds himself on the edge of a dark abyss, wondering if he should carry on, or simply disappear. But if life has taught him anything, it has taught him how to stand tall in the face of adversity, shoulders back, head raised, and a defiant look in his eyes as he bumbled toward his next move.

Work may be slow, but it still continues on my upcoming romantic fiction drama, The Perils of Autumn. The world of an English equestrian master and the Kentucky stable that he loves, sets the scene for a breath-taking saga that is certain to hold your attention, and touch your heart.

Autumn Leeves is married to a man old enough to be her father, yet she feels relatively happy – at least safe – that is until her aging mother passed away in early January of 1980. It has now been eight months since that happened, and thirty four year-old Autumn is finding it impossible to cope with. She had always managed to face things head-on, doing whatever was necessary to move forward and find her path. But this was different, far different from anything she had ever been asked to endure. When it happened she had felt alone – totally alone – feeling as if she had been immersed into a sea of grief and despair whose only job was to suck her down, implode her lungs, and stifle her life.

It appeared her husband Cyril Landon could care less, for he is totally consumed with his precious Kentucky racing stables, caring little, if any for the needs of anyone, much less his grieving wife. The trials throughout his life have hardened him. His thoroughbreds are now his life, his pride and joy, and the bases of his enormous wealth. This carries great weight with him, an importance that only he and his housekeeper could understand the reasoning behind, and he’d be damned if he would apologize for it.
