Romantic Fiction Updates & Check-ups with Canadian Indie author Rusty Blackwood

Haven’t totally dropped off the radar — not yet anyway as I am encompassed in revisions on my up-coming romantic fiction – romance/drama “Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary, due out in May. Putting the finishing touches on a 772 page novel is no easy task, certainly not something the faint of heart would relish — even tackle — but it is necessary to bring a finished title to fruition.

I sometimes wonder myself why I do this but the explanation does not require explaining other than to say I love it. I love the inspirations, the emotions, the creativeness to writing a story that grows within me, within my mind as well as my body, and bring it to life on paper as well as a computerized screen. It’s like watching and feeling the growth of one’s child grow within one’s self, and then marvel at the birth. A novel really is like a child, and the author views it as such, and loves it fully as much.

I found an article on my Facebook from the  good-old writer’s watch-dog, Writer Beware® with regard to profits from writing — in other words the starving artist and why they continue to write and chase that perfect story when there is no guarantee they will earn a single dime – let alone become the next multi-millionaire — but if you are a true writer you do it for the love of the craft. Compensation is definitely welcomed, and unforeseen riches extra gravy.

We all would love huge advances – though in reality they are few and far between, and anyone ( for that matter any writer ) who thinks putting pen to paper or type to screen is automatically in line for a huge pay-out is badly mislead.  Yet regardless of the love of the craft, anyone who writes and publishes – be it indie or standard – is doing it with hopes of profit. I would be lying if I said any different, but not everyone receives their worth.

The information obtained through the URL below is worth taking the time to read, whether you’re a writer, or whether you’re simply interested in the way the literary world usually is for the writer.
