WELCOME!

It is almost impossible to realize that 2016 ends in just three days following today. Hardly seems like the year has had a good start. But that seems to be the way in which it goes, and we must travel right along with it. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not being cynical, I just find it hard to believe how fast time actually passes.

I hope everyone enjoyed a lovely Christmas – as did I – and I hope you received many blessings. This month, though busy and often frigid in temperature, is one of my favorites; the beauty of the season, the smiles on peoples’ faces, and the feelings of excitement and wonder. It is my hope that each of you has enjoyed all that it brings in its many interesting ways.

This month has been slow in the world of writing. I only did one event this month, the last one for this year, and it happened at Ridley College Field house on December 2nd for the annual Ridley Christmas Market. It is one of the largest markets held in the area, and it does not disappoint when it comes to assortment and variety in anything imaginable. This year I shared my table with St. Catharines children’s author, Eleanor Lawrie. Miss Lawrie has penned the delightful Adventures of Shelby F Squirrel & Friends, along with its follow-up, entitled, The Great Forest Caper, both an exceptional read for children and adults alike. I was pleased to greet many interesting people, and discuss both of my romantic fiction novels, the 4-star Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary, and my newly re-released 5-star award winning, Willow’s Walk.

It is always interesting to answer the many questions concerning my work, and the questions asked never cease to amaze me. But that is to be expected and what a writer must be prepared for. I very much like this festive venue, and look forward to returning next year. I very much look forward to returning in early January to the writing of my new romantic fiction drama, The Perils of Autumn, a sweeping drama with a touch of romance, suspense, and intrigue. Set in the beautiful rolling hills of Kentucky, Landon Lawns Stables, a renowned racing stable, known for its hot-blooded thoroughbreds, as well as its top jockey, sets the scene for a story you will not soon forget.

Autumn Leeves-Landon, the young practical nurse who comes to care for the ailing wife of an eccentric English horseman at Landon Lawns Stables, his sprawling equestrian center situated just outside Lexington, Kentucky, finds more than she bargained for when she meets Duff Taylor, Landon Lawns’ bold and celebrated jockey. Duff has a secret, one that he will stop at nothing to prevent being found out. Will Autumn discover it, or will she meet the same fate as the stables lead-hand, William Brown?

I have spoken many times about Press Releases, and their importance with regard to gaining notoriety in the writing and publishing field for an independent author. The connections they provide, as well as the areas they can take your work, are invaluable. I have worked for many years with marketing rep & publicist, Don McCauley, co-host of The Author Show, the top internet radio/TV program featuring authors and their work. Don is also head of the Free Publicity Focus Group. His expertise in the field has been a guiding light for me, and one that has brought me online presence in a way I would not have achieved on my own. I can never stress enough the need for reviews, comments, and word of mouth when it comes to helping a title reach success. Some might say this request is like a stuck record, repeating over and over the same words, but the few words written by a reader carries more weight than one might realize. Reviews need not be lengthy, an essay, or written as if they were competing for an English BA. Honest opinions written in simple form are all that is required, yet so many hesitate to speak. They ponder on thought as to what they should say – if anything – so they simply write nothing. The reason behind a review is for the need to help others choose your work, possibly give it a chance, and recommend it to others. This is most important in the world of independent publishing. Indie authors, like me, do not have Standard Houses behind us flooding every bookstore on earth with our titles, or agents applauding our work and engaging others to partake, nor do we have interviewers pounding on our doors for that all important word. So hopefully you can understand the need for reviews, and give them.

As 2016 draws to a close, may I thank you for all your support this past year through the purchase of my titles, attending my readings and events, and for helping me to put that extra something into everything I write. I pride myself on the quality of my work, and it is through your ongoing support that helps me to strive harder, and higher. May 2017 bring to each of you peace, good health, happiness, and prosperity. And remember, no one is truly alone if they believe in the magic of wonder, and love.

Happy New Year!!!
