Romantic Fiction — or Altered Misconception of it — Romantic Fiction author Rusty Blackwood Repeats Her Views …

THE MISCONCEPTION CONTINUES!!! Romantic fiction, and the writers of this genre, are once again struggling to clarify the difference between romantic fiction, and the genre of erotica. With the recent erotic film, ’50 Shades of Grey’, based on the erotic series of books by E. L. James, the reading public are once again being lead to believe that the genres of romantic fiction and erotica are but one in the same — SO TOTALLY WRONG!!! I cannot stress this ill-conceived mistake enough!

I cannot count the amount of times that I have been asked if my latest romantic fiction novel, ‘Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary’, is like ‘5o Shades of Grey’ in content, and genre. NO, it is NOT! Passions/Revelations is true romantic fiction. Yes, it contains graphic sexual content, but the scenes in which it appears are presented and expressed in a realistic way, the way in which a couple who are passionately and truly in love with each other would express their desires. Passions/Revelations tells the story of what love truly is, not an abusive, degrading, humiliating, and misconstrued account of it, one which can lead a reader to both physical and mental harm.

I have stated before that the genre of erotica is an entertaining and respectful area of writing if presented and accepted in the way the genre is meant. It is also one that should be recognized in its own right BUT it should not be compared to the genre of romantic fiction OR misunderstood as such by the reading public.

Awhile back I spoke about this ongoing mistake in a Press Release which I would like to again let make the rounds. Have a read by taking the provided link below, and have your say. I would be most interested to hear your views.
