Hello everyone! Have you managed to stay afloat in all the rain we’ve endured throughout this wet month – at least until this past week when the sun decided to return to us bringing warmth and blue skies? I was beginning to think spring weather would never come as I pondered thoughts as to whether my carpentry skills would be good enough to assist in the building of an ark, but it looks like we have made it without aid of a good solid floating device, and now on with the news of May.
>> This has been a fairly slow month for me in the literary world with only one signing, one new interview, and the release of the third and final installment of my audio/video series, ‘An Evening with Rusty Blackwood.’ Doing this series has been a great experience for me, and one that lets me be me, as opposed to the regimented questions and answers that I’m often faced with when doing interviews. It’s nice for a change to be allowed freedom in this manner, and to discuss in a laid-back fashion what I do and why I choose to do it. The entire series was a pleasure, and I hope to be allowed the chance to again do something like it. You may check out this series at https://rusty-blackwood.com/biocontact/
>> Earlier this spring I was asked by award winning writer and author Cheryl Holloway http://cherylholloway.net/index.htm to do an interview, which I did, and had a great time in doing. She’s an in-depth interviewer, asking many assorted questions, and the end result turned out fine. It came out on her Blog on May 9th and you may view it by taking this link: http://www.cherylholloway.net/blog/2014/05/09/rusty-blackwood-guest-author-interview/
>> Last month I entered my latest romance/drama ‘Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary’ into the romance division of a contest entitled The 50 Self Published Books Worth Reading 2013-14 which was being sponsored by Indie Author Land, a well known, popular Internet site supporting self published authors through interviews and promotion of their work. The contest saw a staggering amount of entries, especially in the genre of romance, and I was fortunate to make the top-ten shortlist. https://www.facebook.com/notes/rusty-blackwood/the-50-self-published-books-worth-reading-201314-the-romance-shortlist/770988156253898 Judging was decided through reader’s votes and closed May 18th. The final results were posted May 26th, and though I didn’t make the top five in my genre I did finish in the top ten of it. All in all I feel that Passions did very well, and I am most pleased with its showing. You may check out the 50 winning titles by taking this link: http://www.indieauthorland.com/the-50-self-published-books-worth-reading-2013-14/ I’ve now entered Passions/Revelations into Readers Favorite Annual Book Award Contest https://readersfavorite.com/annual-book-award-contest.htm the results to be announced on September 1st/14. Check out Passions/Revelations at https://readersfavorite.com/book-review?review=8183 and wish me luck!
