Romantic Fiction Author Rusty Blackwood’s September Newsletter 2014!

Almost to the end of the month! Usually I write these newsletters a bit earlier, but I guess there’s nothing wrong with taking it right down to the wire. The autumn colours in Niagara have begun, and from what I’ve seen so far they are going to be nothing short of spectacular. Here’s hoping we all enjoy a long gorgeous autumn season filled with beauty and joy, and now on with my September news!

>> It’s been a rather busy month for me with regard to reading and signing. I enjoy doing both, for each allows a different view of my newest romantic fiction drama, ‘Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary’ and allows valuable insight to the story, as well as to the wonderful variety of characters. It’s always a pleasure to read an excerpt, and I hope the area I usually choose to share is one that both tweaks the interest, and entertains the listener.

I was very pleased to be once again asked to participate with Grey Borders https://www.facebook.com/pages/grey-borders/276483441770 to take part in the Grey Borders Book Fair & Readings held at Niagara Falls History Museum and Farmers Market on Ferry Street in Niagara Falls, as part of the Niagara Night of Art throughout the evening of September 18th. https://www.facebook.com/nfmuseums/photos/a.145259002910.112707.87789667910/10152515684047911/?type=1 It was a very chilly evening, but it was still filled with wonderful and interesting words and music. My reading time began at 8:20 and you can catch some photographic coverage by taking this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152796623917033.1073741841.192607652032&type=1

>> A couple of days later, September 20th found me at Coles in Welland’s Seaway Mall https://www.facebook.com/pages/Coles-Seaway-Mall/131913826860148 where I was on hand to sign copies of Passions/Revelations. You can catch coverage of this event by taking this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152794425242033.1073741840.192607652032&type=1
Was great seeing the familiar faces that frequent there and I look forward to seeing everyone again for my next signing on November 8th. This will be my first signing for the upcoming holiday season. Passions in Paris is currently on the romance shelves at Seaway Coles.

’Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary’ is also available from me in paperback editions, and at these fine on-line stores: all Amazons worldwide in paperback and Kindle editions, Barnes & Noble in paperback and NOOK editions, in paperback edition at Create Space, and for all reading devices at Smashwords.
I’ve recently felt the need to voice my opinion and views with regard to the ongoing misconception that stories like 50 Shades of Grey and those written in the same vein, that of which is pure Erotica and should be both viewed and understood as such, is not only being compared to the genre of Romantic Fiction, but now has people believing that the two genres are but one and the same. This is not only nonsense, it is totally wrong. There is nothing wrong with the genre of Erotica. It is a well respected and well accepted genre. There are some fine novels in that genre, and ones that should be applauded for their well written content and expressive story lines, but they are ‘not’ Romantic Fiction. The genre of Romantic Fiction is an entirely separate literary area all together. I find it appalling what is happening, and I believe it is time to set the record straight. With that said, I invite each of you to read my latest Press Release that expresses my views very candidly. Comments to this can be made at my website. Please take this link to the Release. http://www.freepublicitygroup.com/release_rusty_blackwood_romance_novel_aug114.html#

>> Work steadily progresses on my upcoming romantic fiction drama, ’Willow’s Walk’ of which I hope to finish over the winter, and release during Niagara’s literary month which happens next June. Watch for up-dates on my website at https://rusty-blackwood.com
As I state each month, if you wish your name removed from my Newsletter’s mailing list please e-mail me at writerrusty@hotmail.ca. Should anyone wish to be added they may also do so by sending their request to the same address. Comments are always welcome.

I also wish to state, as I do within each Newsletter, my deep appreciation and gratitude to all those who continually support my work by spreading the word, voicing their opinions, sharing media coverage, purchasing my work, and writing reviews. This is how an independent author makes their way in a very hectic and difficult field, and it is through your tireless efforts that the road is made not only easier, but more enjoyable. Thank you so very much.

And as always, support your local authors as well as ‘all’ your local talent in the Arts. Remember, the names that have become today’s household standards, were once unknown in their chosen fields. It was only through those who took the chance to read a new writer’s work, listen to an unknown singer, or that new band trying to get heard, that they are now well known, and able to continue to entertain each and every one of you. Give each a chance. You just might find yourself pleasantly surprised.

Cheers!
Rusty.
