Can you believe this weather? I grew up in south-western Ontario and winters like we’ve been experiencing this year were, in many ways, the norm, but winters in Niagara are usually milder, much less snow, and all-round easier to cope with—but not this year—I mean, Niagara residents are known to live in the Canadian banana belt so, as Ricky Ricardo in his Cuban accent would say, ‘what happened?’ Maybe those of us that live here have become spoiled, pampered, and at the very least shone upon by the weather God – possibly the eye of Ra – but not this year. Maybe we are making up for lost time, and though we have not been asked to endure another ‘Vortex’ like we did last year, I will be glad to see the end of it. But listen to me, I shouldn’t be complaining, especially when one thinks about those out in the battered and buried Maritime’s, and people along the eastern seaboard and mid-western U.S, so with that I shall zip my lip and get on with my February news.

>> This has been another busy month by way of public events, and literary business in the way of ‘nose to the grindstone’ for the upcoming ‘Willow’s Walk’ of which is progressing nicely.

>> The festivities of the month were kicked off on February 7th at the very popular Ladies’ Day Event held at the Saint David’s Anglican Church on Thorold Road in Welland, Ontario from 11 am to 4 pm https://www.facebook.com/St.DavidsACWLadiesDay. What a great event it was, most successful indeed, and I again thank Ms. Wendy Byng, my very efficient assistant for the day who did a bang-up job looking after this writer. I was honoured to be featured along with so many delightful and interesting exhibitors. It is a yearly event, and I hope I shall be asked back. >> The following Saturday, February 14th, Valentine’s Day, found me once again at the Ramada Plaza on Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls, Ontario from 5 – 11 pm taking part in the 6th. Annual Niagara Romance & Sex Expo, https://www.facebook.com/events/523885191058706, efficiently produced by Carrie Matthews and Donna Panetta of Power Two You Productions. http://www.powertwoyouproductions.com/ The weather was not co-operating, such a stormy night, but we prevailed and those that did attend had a great time, as did I and my assistant Ms. Alison Meeks of AM Graphic https://www.facebook.com/AMGraphix. For a look at our evening follow this link:https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153200570892033.1073741846.192607652032&type=3

>> Adverts and interviews are fully as important as the event itself, and I always enjoy both. Early in the week leading up the Niagara Romance Expo I was once again interviewed by the always entertaining and engaging, Joe Crawford, of The Joe Show Live http://joecrawfordlive.com/the-joe-show/ where we discussed romance as well as a number of other things. You may have a listen by taking this link to the interview, now on Sound Cloud: https://soundcloud.com/thejoeshowlive and scrolling down to Rusty Blackwood Interview # romance. Joe is always such a great interviewer and you never know what’s coming your way, which is why speaking with him is so much fun. Thanks again, Joe!

>> Please join me on February 28th from 1 – 4:30 pm at Seaway Mall COLES in Welland, Ontario https://www.facebook.com/pages/Coles-Seaway-Mall/131913826860148?ref=br_tf as I sign limited copies of my 4-star romantic fiction drama, ‘Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary’ Photo by, Richard Hutton
This will be last my signing at this store for awhile, and I will be taking the remaining stock with me when I leave that day. The novel has had a very good run there, and I am most appreciative of its shelf time in their romance department. Note: should anyone in Welland or surrounding area still wish to obtain a copy of this riveting romance, drop into Coles and request it. You may also order directly from me by contacting me at writerrusty@hotmail.ca.

>> On March 7th ‘Passions in Paris’ and I will be taking part in the upcoming Spring Shopping Event https://www.facebook.com/events/1621051144784833 being held at First Reformed Church in St. Catharines where last November’s Xmas bazaar was held. If you’re in the area, come on by, stop by my table and say ‘Hi.’ I will again be holding a draw for a signed, gift-boxed copy of ‘Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary’ at 2:30 on day of event, so fill out a ballot and drop it in the box. Good Luck!

>> I’ve spoken many times of the necessity for Official Press Releases, and I don’t know of anyone who does it more proficiently than my Marketing Rep & Publicist, Mr. Don McCauley, of The Free Publicity Group http://www.freepublicitygroup.com, and The Author’s Marketing Powerhouse, http://www.theauthorsmarketingpowerhouse.com and you may browse this month’s release by taking this link: http://www.freepublicitygroup.com/release_rusty_blackwood_romance_novel_feb115.html

>> Work on my upcoming romantic fiction drama, ‘Willow’s Walk’ steadily continues. I very much enjoy these developing stages of the story, and find them fully as surprising as the prospective reader when they turn each page with wonder of what the next will reveal. This novel, that of which tells the story of a woman’s plight to overcome diversity, abuse, and self-destruction, is slated for release during Niagara’s upcoming literary month of June 2015. I am most excited about it, and I hope it will be met with as much anticipation as ‘Passions in Paris’ was. WillowsWalkCoverSept14 JPG

Newsletters can often be unwanted time seemingly lost, but they are most necessary when it comes to sharing news and things of possible interest to those who follow a writer’s work. Most whom I have spoken with have commented on how much they enjoy receiving my monthly news, but should you choose not to receive it, please contact me at writerrusty@hotmail.ca and request your name removed. February may well be the shortest month of the year, but in many ways it can seem the longest. As it draws to a close this Saturday, and March begins its reign on Sunday, let us celebrate the knowledge that spring is not far behind. And as always, support your local authors, as well as all your local talent in the Arts and remember, the household names you are familiar with today were once unknown and on-supported, that is until someone took the time to read their work, listen to their music, and enjoy the beauty of their art.

Cheers!
Rusty 
