Views of February with Romantic Fiction Novelist Rusty Blackwood …

Time is moving us right along — then again when has it not? This winter has been a hard one by way of illness for many, also the weather has not been kind by way of sunshine, at least to the extent where it keeps one’s spirits lifted with hope that spring is right around the corner with sunshine amount in bucket fulls ready to pour upon each of us. I cannot wait! I’m sure I speak for every living soul in the Northern Hemisphere. But as my late father always said, ‘everything in its time’, and so shall it be.

This is a busy month for me, lots of events and everything that goes along with that. I’ve waited a very long time for events like this to come my way so I shall, in no way, complain. February has always been known as the month of romance — Valentine’s Day and all that — but I really do feel that it is a romantic month in many ways. It’s a perfect time to curl-up in a favourite chair beside a welcoming fire with a wonderful book in hand ( hopefully my romantic fiction drama ‘Passions in Paris’) Passions In Paris Coverto sweep you to exotic lands, or ancient times, or even present times with all that might entail, but it is all in the way one chooses to relax with whatever entertains them.

In Ontario we have a fairly new holiday known as Family Day, which happens on the third Monday of February extending the weekend to a three day event. It is proving to be quite a popular holiday; skating rinks and arenas are busy, winter chalets in the northern part of the province will be hopping with ski enthusiasts, snow shoeing or cross-country skiing, ice fishing on the frozen lakes and hot cocoa by a roaring fire. These, of course, are outdoor activities, but they too can be filled with romantic flavor and gestures. Whatever your choice, I hope you enjoy every moment.
